Hamilton's mother, Carmen Brenda Larbalestier is British and his father; Anthony Hamilton's parents migrated from Grenada to the United Kingdom in the 1950s. Beside his interest for racing, he also played soccer for his school squad with England international and Manchester United midfielder Ashley Young. He had decided that in case Formula One did not work for him, then he would consider being a footballer. He is a big fan of Arsenal F.C as well as a cricketer and actually played for his school teams as a youngster. He afterwards attended, in February 2001, Cambridge Arts and Sciences (CATS), which is a private sixth-form college situated in Cambridge. At the tender age, he decided to take up karate in order to guard himself from bullying at school.
